Botanical, or species tulips are much smaller than the Dutch tulips most people are used to, but they're deer resistant and tend to perform better in the South.
This is tulipa Marjoletti. The outer petals are pink but it opens to a sunny yellow.
Tulipa clusiana is a pale pink on the outside, and opens to white. It reminds me of a peppermint candy.
